Nick - A member of the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health
(CMIOSH) National Examining Body in Occupational Safety and Health(NEBOSH):
Nick has had a professional involvement in health and safety for over 18 years and is passionate about ensuring people are in a safe and healthy working environment.
This stems from a broad experience of employment in different occupational sectors and in a variety of different capacities. These have ranged from hands on manual work to training, supervisory and managerial positions. This has enabled Nick to understand perceptions of health and safety in the workplace from both an employer’s and employee’s viewpoint.
The considerable length of employment with a national provider of vocational training has provided Nick with the experience and understanding of the issues that employer’s face when trying to implement quality and management systems at a variety of diverse locations. This means that his approach to compliance audits and workplace inspections is sympathetic to the working environment and the personnel employed there.
It is human nature to try and resist change and part of the challenge of ensuring people are safe at work is to understand what motivates and drives people to act in the way they do and how change can be managed and embraced by the people it effects. To ensure this happens Nick will take the time to understand the culture that exists in a business and the personnel involved, so that systems and procedures reflect current practice and individuals are able to contribute to and have ownership of their own safety at work.
